You might ask....
What I wrote in my opening blog, “Let the Blogging Begin” was mainly for me to vent about grammar, try to improve my writing skills, and how I started my blog. So now let me tell you how I got started weaving. No more venting. This is about weaving not writing
I have a degree in Fashion Design and I truly love designing and sewing my own clothes. When I was growing up every town had a fabric store, every department store had a fabric department, and every mall had a fabric store. (yes, I’m that old!) In Junior and Senior High School I would save all my babysitting money to buy fabric and sew my own clothes. I had an abundant source of fabric stores to find exactly what I wanted.
It was and still is very sad for me. Seriously, what is a clothing designer suppose to do? I asked myself. “You’re just going to have to learn to weave, so you can design and make the fabrics you need.” That’s right, I asked myself a question in the second person, and I answered it in the third! – Or is it the other way around?LOL! Anyway, the next thing I knew, I was standing in a weaving studio, totally blown away, lost and overwhelmed! I was so excited I was jumping out of my skin. I signed up right then and there for my first weaving class. One class led to another, then another and so on and so on. Then before I knew it, I had my own weaving studio!
Funny though, I still sew a few of my clothes, (not as much as I’d like) but I have yet to weave my own garment fabric. The ideas are always flowing so I guess I’m still in the designing phase of that.
That’s my story of how I began weaving. If you’re a weaver, please tell me how you got started!
